My Evening with Oscar

Excuse my poor excuse for a 'red carpet', but I really wanted to show off my would-have-been outfit in an appropriate manner. Anyway I found this sparkly/glittery/sequin full top and this calf-length black sheath dress in my mom's closet and thought it was definitely oscar appropriate! I had a fantastic time watching the red-carpet pre-show and have to say that my two favourites were Cate Blanchett and Halle Berry, such beauty and elegance! Hope everyone had a fantastic evening with Oscar!

End of Week

After cooking boring mid-week meals a Friday night dinner out is something so special to look forward to! I got a little dressed up for dinner out with the Boyf and we thoroughly enjoyed our tex-mex meals of fish tacos and chicken enchiladas. Oh I also couldn't resist the white peach bellini!

 Oh...also...my poodle and packing snow don't mesh so well...meet my little elephant man!

Pretty in Plaid

This dress caught my eye as soon as I laid eyes on it in my local Joe Fresh months ago. I waited and waited and found it incredibly on sale a few weeks back! This was a treat and a reward all rolled into one. I love the uniform feel of this outfit and being able to liven it up with a pretty pair of heels to make it stand out! Also I can't get enough of the uber warm flannel fabric - perfect for the chilly months!

{Faux}Fur Those Chilly Days

Some mornings a can barely get out of bed - let alone put together a fashionable work outfit. This skirt is my saviour on days like that. I can simply throw it on with tights and a cute top {sometimes a blazer} and be ready in a matter of moments. I throw on this faux fur stole on those chilly days when I know a thin shirt won't be enough - it is also ALWAYS a talking point at work, and lots of other people end up wearing it throughout the day.

Colonel Mustard

Sometimes you find an item that practically jumps off the rack and into your arms. As soon as I saw this blazer in my local thrift shop I instantly knew I would be bringing it home with me. The vibrant colour and fabulous trim make it stand out from all of the rest. I don't often wear pants because there are not many that are long enough, but these cinch in at the bottom and make it much more acceptable to show a bit of ankle! This outfit would be perfect to wear while waiting for a flood.

{wearing this new outfit that includes a never worn vest}
{meeting up with friends at harbourfront for an afternoon of skating}
{making a delicious tofu stir-fry for dinner as seen here}

Mother Knows Best

 Growing up I always thought that my mom wore the 'lamest' clothes. When we would go shopping she would always make me try on dorky clothing and I absolutely hated it! Well as it turns out maybe mother does know best! This entire outfit (minus tights and shoes) are picked out from my mom's closet. I just love the classic elegance of this skirt - and the comfy cozy cropped sweater will definitely transcend throughout the seasons.

Wild Thing

I have embarked on a self-induced month long shopping ban. After frequenting way too many sales recently I decided to spice things up a little bit and start shopping in my very own closet. This situation may sound dire, but if you think about it where else can you go that is always open, and carries absolutely everything in your perfect size? This dress was bought many moons ago and I have only worn it once. I decided it was time to bring it out of hiding and into the wild!

Buyers Remorse

Do you ever buy something on impulse and find it in the back of our closet a few months later untouched? I hate to admit that this happens to me rather frequently and this outfit is a product of those 'buyers remorse' purchases. I thrifted this sweater and when I tried it on at home realized it was very 'granny-esque' and put it right to the back of my closet. These boots were bought in the summer heat and  I definitely didn't fall in love with them right away. I think pairing this sweater with a flirty 'barely-there' dress is the perfect way to make sure it doesn't overwhelm the outfit. These boots add a touch of quirky-ness and fun to a fairly sophisticated outfit. Moral of the story is don't punish these pieces, mix them up and embrace them!

Red White & Blue Valentine

It feels so good to be back blogging again! This outfit was a breath of fresh  air for me, I don't often wear red, but I felt as though it added the perfect splash of colour to this otherwise plain palette.  These shoes are my lovely Jeffrey Campbell's and are the comfiest things I own - the people in my office love commenting on my blue suede shoes!
